Tazeka Aromatherapy Review

November 17, 2016

Tazeka Aromatherapy has really found a way to change my views on aromatherapy for good. I am drawn to products that have some sound scientific backing connected with them. I am not that person who believes in crystals and oils to alleviate any actual serious ailment outside a relaxing spa experience. Maybe my skin is thick and my brain is too closed, dense, and unable to let any of such goodness penetrate.

Maybe, I’m also a fan of Advil because that stuff actually really works for most things.

Then came along Tazeka Aromatherapy. They kindly contacted me and offered to send my choice of 4 aromatherapy blends for me to test. I had never heard of them and when I went to their site, I was instantly blown away instantly by their on point packaging! Housed in this gorgeous colored case is a roller ball of blended oils claiming to help you with anything from headaches to feeling happier.

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much. I’ve tried aromatherapy when I first got into clean beauty. I made the change after reading that perfume like my beloved Chloe was going to make me birth babies with 6 eyeballs and make my hormones go haywire. I cut down on Chloe and made a whole-hearted attempt to try to go more natural with my aromas. Perhaps I didn’t go to the right place and perhaps I chose the wrong scents. But, nothing I tried ever made me smell elegant nor did it make me feel happy like Chloe did. The organic aromatherapy blends made my husband ask me if I was becoming a tree. Surprisingly, they actually gave me headaches and smelled superficial! Then, gone were the days of compliments like, “Wow, you smell great, what is that?”

I went back to Chloe because I’m done having kids so no one is coming out with 6 eyeballs. My hormones are already disrupted because I am a person with 2 kids nearing 40. A person who is alive and can’t get away from things that disrupt hormones like I don’t know, LIFE.

What is Tazeka Aromatherapy?

Each Tazeka blend contains 100% organic, unsprayed, or wild-crafted pure essential oils, pure organic jojoba wax, and natural tocopherols. (That means vitamin E. It’s a great natural preservative—both for your skin and for our blends!) We use only the highest-quality, ethically-farmed and harvested ingredients, sourced from farmers and distillers we trust. We don’t want any synthetic additives coming between you and the power of the plants, and we stand by the integrity of our products.

Optimism – $39.50
Claims: To enliven and uplift your spirits.
Scent: Clary sage & warm citrus.

Efficacy: This blend was the most intriguing because I really love citrus, fresh, and “happy” scents. I’ve tried other organic citrus scents that ended up smelling overwhelming or like Lemonheads. I was pleasantly surprised to feel that this blend actually made me feel optimistic. It’s sitting on my desk right now as I furiously type away. It’s actually fresh, uplifting, and when I take a big deep whiff, I can honestly feel my mood lift.

Soothe Your Stress – $44.95
Claims: For peaks of sudden stress, but best over time for anxiety that can cut off hope & happiness.
Scent: Deep rose & woody vetiver.

Efficacy: Lovely stress, one of my all-time favorite topics. The short story is: stress kills and some days, I actually don’t want to die. I think I handle it well, usually. My family would say I implode with every minor tinge of stress that comes my way. Stress from the outside world can be easily tossed in the garbage in my opinion. If it’s from someone I don’t care about, then I give zero poo’s. But, stress from family is another thing because feelings are involved.

Anyway, this scent reminds me of nature but in a good, fresh way. It actually makes me feel like I can let go of whatever is stressing me out for that moment, regroup, and come back with a better perspective to tackle it. You know how you’ve gone out of a walk to look at the trees, the sky, and even some weeds along the way? Then, you come back feeling invigorated and like your soul isn’t so doomed. That’s what this scent will make you feel.

Non-Stop Thoughts – $44.95
Claims: Supports intellect, clears out stagnant thoughts, & helps you get over being a perfectionist.
Scent: Cardamom & myrrh.

Efficacy: It makes me cackle but I’m not ever trying to be a perfectionist. Just look at my hair that I never brush. That aside, I don’t know about you but I think a lot. It feels like there’s always so much to do and not enough time. There’s a lot of expectations to do a lot because hey, taking care of 2 kids is really easy. My thoughts are riddled with what I can get off my to-do list in the 5 minutes I have right now. And, what needs I’ll have to address until the end of time. This blend has helped to give me pause in the day. I need it. Everyone needs it. We aren’t machines to be producing work and gourmet meals every second of the day. This blend allows me to give myself permission to not think about one thing for at least .76 minutes.

Headache Helper – $44.95
Claims: Relieves pain, inflammation, & helps to center your mind.
Scent: Cornmint, lavender, & frankincense oil.

Efficacy: I’ve experienced about 5.5 headaches in my lifetime, even after kids. I know, I guess I could be considered lucky. But, my mom had migraines (thanks to me) frequently and I know she would use this Tiger Balm to help quell the pain. I’ve rolled this directly onto my temples for those days when my life feels numb and foggy. I also carry this around with me to inhale whenever I am under duress. It’s not overly minty where it would irritate one’s skin or overly tainted with lavender. It’s honestly the perfect blend of calm, uplifting, and soothing. I really love this blend! For once, something that’s not actually Advil that does help headaches, the natural way.

Aprodite – $44.95
Claims: To bring emotional and physical sensuality alignment and ignite passion.
Scent: Jasmine, rose, & spicy cardamom.

Efficacy: Okay, so you’re thinking I wanted to try this to seduce my spouse or whatever. But, the truth is I wanted to see if this was going to smell that like that horrid vanilla scent that everyone used to wear. I never understood how vanilla could be calming and sexy. I love vanilla ice cream but the scent, organic or artificial, it’s just gag-inducing to me. Thankfully, Tazeka used jasmine and rose which I think makes more sense because these scents are beautiful. I want to smell beautiful, not delicious. It’s not too strong, musky, and definitely not vanilla. And, since we are all grown adults here, it doesn’t smell like you are trying too hard to ignite passion. That just smells actually gross. Easily wearable and won’t offend anyone, especially that baby with 6 eyeballs I may have created while wearing Chloe.

Is it Worth Sharing Over Coffee?

By now, you’ve noticed that these appear pricey. Sure, but what great scent/perfume isn’t? You might be thinking, “You got this for free so of course, you’d say great things about it.” The last time I checked, I didn’t sell my soul to the devil for free products. I don’t think that had I not liked any of these scents, that I’d lose anything by basically saying, “Don’t become that gross vanilla wearing lady trying to seduce everyone”. I’d rather lose product reviews than my integrity that I’ve racked up a good $150,000 in student debt with to learn how to report things unbiasedly.

Like I said at the beginning, I am not a true believer of aromatherapy. I don’t think essential oils cure AIDS, HIV, and definitely not cancer. I don’t even think they really cure sore throats, I’d rather drink Vicks. I also don’t think they drive away evil spirits and clear the air of negative energy.

I do, however, believe they clear my nose when it’s clogged and freshens up a stinky room. Ever burn those soy candles with essential oils after someone’s fried fish at 8am in your house? Works. I also believe they help when my baby boys have colds. God forbid I poison them with Vicks unless I want them to wake up with 6 eyeballs.

That said, I’d be delighted to wear any of these scents to meet a friend over coffee. I’d even carry all of them with me to let that friend smell and roll it on themselves, too. Tazeka Aromatherapy actually works as describes for each scent. They keep it simple and don’t overhype their product with claims of curing the world and tumors. Again, this is coming from someone who doesn’t think lavender is really even that calming. None of the scents are overwhelming. I would not be afraid to wear it next to someone who all allergic to all the aromas.

Absolutely enjoyable and I wouldn’t be embarrassed to say “hey, I have some great essential oils that could help with your stress.” I wouldn’t think twice to try their other scents, especially Meditation Guru because I bet my family would say I need some zen right about now.

Lastly but not least, I need to mention the company. Kristina who is my contact person has been really gracious and a complete gem to interact with. She’s easy going and has never pressured me for a review. When I touched base with her to give her quick feedback, she was so excited and shared with her team. Then, guess who emails me- the owner herself, Ms. Zena Hallam. She thanked me for my feedback and was very appreciative. In a world where large businesses easily thrive and small businesses need to work really hard to gain trust and rapport, this is where simple correspondences like these make all the difference. #suckerforhandwrittennotes

Leven Rose Coffee Bean Oil Review

February 5, 2016

I saw the word coffee and I had to have it. I really have a problem, but a good problem! But really, what kind of sorcery is this?! I knew there were coffee scrubs, coffee face masks, coffee candles, coffee rubs for cooking, coffee for drinking, but never coffee bean oil for the face!

I have a real love for oils. I honestly believe my skin has transformed since I incorporated oils into my skincare in 2011. It started with oils for my ginormous belly that looked like I was carrying twins- but nope, only 1 both times, thank you. The same oils somehow found its way to my face and I never looked back. I’ve tried argan oil, good old Trader Joe’s coconut oil, some expensive pregnant belly oil blend, and finally settled for maracuja oil (more on this another time).

A good friend I made on Instragram, Michelle Paradis, had a post about hair oils which piqued my interest. A few hours of Googling about oils and all their different benefits later, I’m Amazon Prime-ing this Leven Rose Coffee Bean Oil for same day delivery (for qualified purchases over $35). Seriously, anyone else LOVE Amazon?

What is Leven Rose Beauty? Founded by a husband and wife team, Iyatho and Frances in 2013 in Colorado, who were trying to find a cure for their daughter’s keratosis.

What are the ingredients? 100% Natural Pure Cold Pressed Unrefined Coffee Bean Oil (Arabica Beans from Brazil).

PRODUCT: 100% Pure and Natural Coffee Bean Oil. Made in USA (Colorado). Net wt. 1 oz/ 28.35g. $18.97

Levenrose Coffee Bean Oil

PACKAGING: Sturdy glass bottle with a dropper applicator. Flattering pink art with clearly labeled product name and logo.

Leven Rose Coffee Bean Oil product

SCENT: As the name suggests, this oil smells exactly like coffee. There are no other scents that I can detect. I would say it smells like a medium roast coffee. No floral and citrus notes like those found in Ethiopian coffee. But since they used arabica beans from Brazil, these beans generally have chocolate, nutty, and a slight sweet notes which I picked up in my scent test. It is not overpowering nor does it linger on your face for hours after application. How I wish blogs had a scratch and sniff because this is seriously delicious!

FIRST DROPLET: The viscosity of this coffee bean oil is definitely on the runnier side, mimicking that of rosehip oil and maracuja oil, perhaps a smidge thicker. But, not as thick as castor oil, argan oil, or olive oil. Definitely, don’t cook with this! But wait, can you?

Leven Rose Coffee Bean Oil swatch

APPLICATION: As with oils of light to medium viscosity, it applied easily and absorbed quickly.

EFFICACY: Leven Rose claimed this coffee bean oil would do the following:

“increase collagen and elastin in the skin, naturally, for younger looking skin.”

Now, I can’t measure how much collagen or elastin has increased in my skin to say that it actually increased for sure. But, to my naked eye, I can tell my skin appears to be in better condition. My skin feels firmer in that when I poke my cheek, it seems to bounce back almost instantly rather than stay indented for 3.5 seconds. Directions say to pat around the eye area, but I just slather it all over my face. My eye area does seem less puffy and strangely, I look “well rested”. How I am measuring how well rested I look is that I don’t need to use as much under eye concealer as I did prior to using this coffee bean oil. Using a magnifying mirror and being my own personal harsh critic, can I claim my skin looks younger? I don’t know if “younger” is the right word, but I would honestly have to say it does look and feel better. I do not say this lightly- my fine lines around my eyes appear softer and my face feels more supple. So, in my honest opinion without actual testing by a dermatologist, I would say this product is highly efficacious.

IS IT WORTH SHARING OVER COFEE?: Never would I thought I would be talking about coffee bean oil over coffee, but I feel like this is my actual dream come true! Short answer- YES!! Long answer: If I could drink this oil, I would, but I’m not prone to “tasting” my skin care or makeup no matter how “clean” it might be. I’m not 3 years old even though I might be the same height of some toddlers. How are kids so super tall these days?! Anyway, I’ve already put this item in my Amazon cart for “buy later” meaning when I have 1/4 left, I’m Prime-ing this baby over. I feel like I can add this to my moisturizer or apply it in the middle of the night after putting the kids to sleep for the 80th time and it just soaks in so effortlessly. I don’t wake up greasy or smelling like stale coffee. It has also made makeup application significantly smoother and easier because I no longer have any dry patches. I highly, strongly recommend this if you want to combat puffiness, dull skin, or if you “feel” like your skin is “saggy”. I don’t quite know how to quantify that unless your cheeks are hanging out with your knees. But you know what I mean! Give it a try! You might just add this to your collection of oils!

Let me know what you think if you do try it!

Hourglass vs. Kjaer Weis: What to Splurge On?

February 4, 2016

My good friend asked me if she should splurge on the Hourglass (HG) Edit Palette or get the Kjaer Weis (KW) Foundation. I thought she was mad to ask me such a thing. But, she looked at me with serious eyes and wanted a serious answer. Granted that these are different cosmetic products all together, it invoked some deep, careful thoughts and a calculator.

Hourglass & Kjaer Weis

Several points were taken into consideration before I came to the final conclusion based on pure scientific logic. Just kidding, but seriously, a lot of thought went into answering this life-changing question. Peruse the chart below.

Hourglass Edit Palette VS. Kjaer Weis Foundation

Product Price/USD Amount Price/Ounce
Hourglass (Singles)
                  Powder $45 .34 $128.57
                  Blush $35 .15 $233.33
                  Bronzer $50 .39 $128.21
Hourglass Palettes
                  Powder (3) $58 .35 $165.71
                  Blush (3) $58 .33 $175.76
                  Edit (6) $80 .29 $275.86
Kjaer Weis
                  Foundation $68 .26 $261.54
                  Foundation Refill Only $40 .26 $153.85
                  Blush $56 .12 $466.66
                  Blush Refill Only $32 .12 $266.67

Hourglass Blush Palette

Price Per Ounce:
Without going into ingredients, taking into account your personal beauty philosophy, etc., KW appears to be expensive across the board. A KW blush refill is almost the same price as the HG blush that comes with its own packaging.

Then, looking at HG, it appears comparatively more affordable. However, in looking carefully within the HG blush products – a single HG blush is as expensive as the Edit Palette that contains 6 different shades. The best bang for your buck here is basically the single HG bronzer and the HG powder.

But, wait, don’t click Confirm Order on the HG palette just yet.

Better Value Overall?:
The Powder palette is the best value out of all the HG palettes. However, if you want to try the HG blush, the palette would be the way to go. Unless you are 250% sure of the color you want in the single blush, price/ounce HG palette $175.76 vs. HG single $233.33 would be considered a drastic difference.

Here’s where KW only looks more expensive, but in actuality, it is not. If you look at the KW blush refills, they are $32 vs. HG $35 which is not a huge difference for the actual product. Thus, it comes down to what finish, ingredients, and color you would like in your blush. I have reviewed several KW items here and here. You can always put the refills in a pretty little Z-palette if price is the issue. Even comparing bronzer and blush- again two different makeup products generally aimed to do different things even though you can use bronzer as blush. HG bronzer is $50 while KW blush in its compact is $56- again not a significant price difference.

Foundation is simply different from the blush breakdown in the chart above, so speaking to it in a comparative fashion would be a travesty to all the millions of years of my doctorate training. I can already see my advisor’s face..that “don’t even go there” face. Uy. It is possible though to use a darker shade of foundation as bronzer/contour…..but let’s not even go there right now.

Kjaer Weis

Need or Want?:
When the want is strong enough, the need is not even a question. But, do any of these products harness a true need to complete life? It really depends on who you ask and makeup comes down to personal preferences. I am only here to display the facts! I will leave you to search your soul on this one.

For the makeup admirer: It might come down to packaging which both have done beautifully. Hard to choose!!!

For the makeup lover: It might be price, need of product, and whether you’ll actually use it.

For the makeup obsessor: Like me, you’d probably just get both!

For the makeup lover who only uses organic products: Kjaer Weis would be the winner!

But if you want my opinion, keep reading…

Pulling out a calculator to look at price per ounce? I’ve seen parents (me) do this at Target/Costco in the diaper section because Target is the trickiest- buy 4 boxes of any of 2 sizes- newborn or size 1 (but I need size 4). Only in the big box not the mega box. Then you may get a $25 gift card. But wait, Cartwheel this deal, buy 3 more boxes of only size 5 (but I need size 4) in the mega box and get another $15 gift card. WHAT EVEN!? Just stop Target!!

But for luxury makeup, it should be easy – if you like it and you feel it’s worth the price tag- get it. Luxury makeup is luxurious, it’s a treat, it’s special, and dwindling it down to cost per application takes away from the luxuriousness of it all. The amount of makeup we wear per day, even the people in theater or whatnot can not be compared to Target diaper deals. Nothing can be compared to Target diaper deals! So, in my humble beauty practices, I rarely ever look at the price per ounce when I’m purchasing makeup- read: this was the first time ever I did this in my life for my good friend. To be really honest, even looking at the last column is giving me the sad feels.

Clearly, these are such different products!! Obviously, I own both and have enjoyed. In the end, even though I am blush lover, I still suggested (read: pretty much forced) my friend to splurge on the KW foundation because really amazing organic foundation in incredibly beautiful packaging is very hard to come by! But, that blush palette! See, I couldn’t really decide either!

What would you splurge on? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Kjaer Weis Eyeshadow in Grace Review

January 25, 2016

I already know what you’re thinking.

But, can you blame me? Once I feel like I’ve struck the holiest of grails, I just start building my collection and I don’t look back. To some, I might be a borderline hoarder slash addict on some level. But, I become a loyal fan who simply believes in and has confidence in what companies produce.

We all know holy grails are hard to come by. We all know that even though there are a bajillion neutral shades of brown, there are only a handful that any of us enthusiasts would consider “the one”. You know, the one you’d stock up on and panic if it were ever discontinued. There are so many aspects to the perfect netural brown: the formulation, finish, lasting power, and whether that one brown shade does what we need it to do. Does it look natural? Can I build up to a dramatic look? Is it smokey enough? Does it contour, define, but still look classy? And heaven forbid, does it make me look dirty? It’s a picky business when it comes to eyeshadows!

So, for someone who has little time each day to even look at my eye lids, I need a color that will give me zero hassles and zero worries hours later. I can’t worry as to whether it has traveled somewhere without permission or faded away… like my youth. I need a shadow that stays on, stays the same color even 8 hours later, and at the end of the day, I won’t feel that pang of regret when my eyeballs are red and itchy.

What ingredients are in this eyeshadow?

PRODUCT: Eye Shadow in Grace. Made in Italy. Net wt. 0.043 oz./ 1.2g. $45 (with compact) /$27 (refill only)

Kjaer Weis Grace packaging

PACKAGING: I honestly wish that I bought the compact now because I feel like I’m missing something in my life. But, as I’ve said 5 times now- it’s luxurious!

Kjaer Weis Grace eyeshadow

SHADE: As described on their site: ““A luscious, light mocha color with a semi-matte finish.”” What I appreciate about all the descriptions on their website is that it is accurate! It’s not fluffy or full of unfulfilled promises- just beautifully straight to the point. This is definitely, absolutely “The One” for me. Do you ever just want more natural definition to your eye? This is the perfect color. What I LOVE is that you cannot mess this one up! I’m not sure what magic is bestowed upon this and all other shadows, but even my puppy did my eye makeup using this shade, it would still look flawless.

Kjaer Weis Grace swatch

INITIAL SWATCH: Just as with Divine, Grace is semi-matte and breathes life into your eyelid. It is smooth and color translation from pan to skin is impeccably perfect. There is no fall out yet the shadow is very buttery.

APPLICATION: I am trying not to repeat myself, however the consistency among products and within products is stellar. Again, Kjaer Weis created yet another shadow that has seamless application properties. You can build Grace as much as you need to and it will never look too overdone, muddy, or sloppy.

EFFICACY: Did this give the illusion of not wearing makeup? Yes. Did this create subtle depth but also perform well enough to provide a dramatic look? Absolutely. Everything Kjaer Weis promises in this eye shadow, she delivers!

IS IT WORTH SHARING OVER COFEE?: YES! From baby steps to professional level usage, Kjaer Weis meets all levels of needs. How amazing is that? And the plus for those who are interested but absolutely not obliged in my eyes, the ingredients are top notch and cruelty free. I would wholeheartedly suggest Kjaer Weis as one of my top 3 when my friends ask me “What’s a good neutral brown?”

I love using Grace to blend out the edges of my smokey eye when I use Grace. It’s so perfect and definitely makes you look like you had your smokey eye professionally done. I believe this look is achievable for skin tones similar to mine up to medium. For tanned beauties, I believe this shade would be a beautiful highlighter shade or a shade to layer underneath another shade to help make that shade more vibrant. I personally feel that the best thing about these eyeshadows is you can LAYER and it just never seems to get cakey or overwhelming. Not many organic shadows have this level of versatility. I also feel that for people who are just starting out with makeup and are not quite experts with the shadow-brush dip pressure, how much to pick up, how much pressure to apply, and what direction to blend things, Kjaer Weis shadows would help them learn beautifully! I’ve been in a place where I got a palette, the color was “too much of everything” and I wasn’t able to blend, unblend, apply correctly, and I completely got turned off to eyeshadow all together.

My final answer is: GET ALL THE SHADOWS!

Kjaer Weis Eyeshadow in Divine Review

January 18, 2016

You guessed it! Another Kjaer Weis review! You must be wondering if this is the only makeup I own- no it’s not. And if I was sent these products- no, I’m pretty sure Kjaer Weis and her staff don’t even know I exist. But, if they one day discover my reviews- HI TEAM KJAER WEIS!!!!

Anywho, today, I want to showcase her eyeshadow. These are the most expensive singular shadows I own. But for some things, it’s a moot point as to how much they cost because it’s a necessity, for life. A little background about my eyelids and eyeballs- they are sensitive and quite temperamental. Sometimes, even the most organic, clean eyeshadows can make my eyes red, watery, and puffy by the end of the day. Thus, I’ve become accustomed to not wearing any shadow but great at obsessively collecting them. So, when I purchased Divine after I purchased her foundation, I was 99.92% sure that this shadow was going to change my life. And, after testing this out for 5 months now, I am thrilled to finally report that this is my holy grail.

What ingredients are in this eyeshadow?

Please refer to this link to review all her ingredients.

PRODUCT: Eye Shadow in Divine. Made in Italy. Net wt. 0.043 oz./ 1.2g. $45 (with compact) /$27 (refill only)

Kjaer Weis Divine

PACKAGING: Just as stunning as the foundation and blush compacts, albiet a different shape of course. Shiny, heavy weighted, solid feeling, and a perfect encasement to the precious shadows.

Kjaer Weis Divine eyeshadow

SHADE: As described on their site: ““Divine is a beautiful gray that will shade the eye and give the illusion of not wearing make-up. A classic, neutral grey.”” If any of you are like me, there was a point in time where you wanted to be the smokey eye queen and bought all the shades that made a smokey eye look easy. However, probably NOT like me is that you mastered it and for some reason, I can only do it on other people. At least to me, mine never look the right kind of smokey. That “smudge” on the lower lash line never looks smokey-classy, just smokey like I fell in a chimney. So, I gave up and decided to adopt the one color wash all over the lid with a cat eye and never looked back. Then along came Divine and thanks to Lily at Genuine Glow, after reading her review, it gave me those hopeful smokey eye feelings all over again.

Kjaer Weis named this shadow so correctly as it is soo divine. It is a heaven sent for those less apt to using jet black for smoke. It is great and appropriate for the perfect day time smokey eye. Add a little more and you’re ready for night time. And that dreaded smudge under the lash line? This shade was made to marry your lower lash line!!!! It absolutely gives depth, adds a shade to the eyes that looks so wonderfully clean and classy!

Kjaer Weis Divine swatch

INITIAL SWATCH: If the shade wasn’t already perfect, at first swatch, this was fully decadent. The color you see in the pan is perfectly translated onto the lid. There are no shimmers, however not absolutely matte. To me, there’s an ever so slight satin finish that takes this shadow to the next level of perfection. I love satin finishes as opposed to extremely matte or extremely glittery because I feel like it just adds dimension. And, a simple glean of health that a matte finish doesn’t provide.

APPLICATION: Seamless. Dip your little brush in the pan and whether you do a light sweep all over the lid or concentrate over the crease, it glides effortlessly anywhere you want to place it. Have you ever gotten a shadow where you dipped your brush into it a little too enthusiastically, then placed it on your lid with the same emotion, and instantly you regretted that emotion? Well, with this shade, you don’t have to worry about regretting anything. The first layer applies like a nice clean slate. The second layer appears evenly layered and equally seamless. You can build as much as you need to and it will never look too overdone, muddy, or sloppy.

EFFICACY: Did this give the illusion of not wearing makeup? Yes. Did this create subtle depth but also perform well enough to provide a dramatic look? Absolutely. Everything Kjaer Weis promises in this eye shadow, she delivers!

IS IT WORTH SHARING OVER COFEE?: All I can say is now I’m going to look really good drinking coffee with my really good looking smokey eye. It looks like I mastered the smokey eye look years ago with this shade. There’s always one aspect that makeup lovers have a secret struggle with, be it the cat eye, taming the brows, finding the right shade of something. Well, thank you Kjaer Weis, now I can scratch the I-love-makeup-but-why-does-my-smokey-eye-look-like-it’s-on-bad-coffee off my list forever! I’m genuinely excited for this divine product she has blessed us with! I love being able to do the cat eye with this shadow and I am surprised at how the look can last for a good 9 hours without fading or slowly trying to meet my blush.

Like I said with the blush compacts, the price is also very steep for one eye shadow. But, for the sake of just having one compact in case you want to travel with one shade, I vote absolutely yes to this luxe goodness. Again, my recommendation would be to procure all the eye shadows and simply place them in a Z-palette. I have personally enjoyed looking at my collection daily sitting my z-palette daily and find that many other green beauty enthusiasts are quite happy going in this direction as well.

In closing, if you want a smokey eye but feel that they are too hard to master, too much for a daytime look, ends up looking less than classy- RUN to your closest stockist right now. Divine will solve all your smokey eye problems!

Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Embrace Review

If I haven’t raved enough about all things Kjaer Weis, I will soon. This is going to add to my collection of raving. I’ve reviewed her foundation here, and will now be sharing with you my all time favorite cosmetic item: Blush.

How much blush can one person have or need for just 2 cheeks on a face? It’s all just varying shades and textures of red, pink, coral, orange, mauve, and berry. But that’s exactly the point! There are so many varying shades and textures, so I just need them all! Something about blush makes me so happy, it can brighten your face instantly and application doesn’t have to be painstakingly accurate for it to look decent.

So, who and what is Kjaer Weis all about?
*this section is a repeat of my first post in case this is your first post!*
Kristin Kjaer Weis was born in Denmark and is a makeup artist based in New York City. She is the creative mastermind behind the makeup line that is organic, all natural, gluten free and free of irritants that performs as well as other cutting edge high-end luxury brands on the market. Her packaging is highly luxurious- think of Chanel or Burberry- yet completely environmentally friendly – each product casing is refillable.

What ingredients are in her makeup line?

PRODUCT: Blush in Embrace. Made in Italy. Net wt. 0.12 oz./ 3.5g. $56 (with compact) /$32 (refill only)

Kjaer Weis Cream Blush- Embrace

PACKAGING: One word, stunning. Exactly like the foundation packaging only different dimensions. Again, nicely weighted compact that just feels and looks luxurious.

SHADE: As described on their site: “This nude-pink is my go-to when just the palest hint of blush is needed. Best for light to light medium skin tones.” Admittedly, I am the kind of girl who isn’t afraid of blush- I love those stand out colors since this is usually the only product I am comfortable with on my face. Lips and eyeliner take time and careful application which at times I don’t have. This is the lightest shade I own and I quite enjoy it! It is so understated and definitely gives a “within glow” look. The perfect shade to pair with a bold lip or eye makeup.

Kjaer Weis Blush Embrace

INITIAL SWATCH: Just like KW foundation, this is quite creamy and dense. The color is just as described- nude pink and light. It exudes classic, clean looking beauty- no fuss, no mess, and seriously, I don’t think you can mess this up even if you tried.

APPLICATION: So, unlike the foundation which I discuss here, once your face is already prepped, foundation has been applied, the blush is pretty seamless to apply. I use the Wayne Goss 13 Brush to apply it and sometimes with my fingers- flawless application every time. Easy to blend and easy to build color while still feeling weightless on the skin. Think of it as spreading Kerrygold Butter on warm toast- sooo buttery smooth.

EFFICACY: As with ALL cream blushes, the lasting power is a not as long as compared to powder blushes. This does NOT make this product less efficacious though. It is perfectly pigmented and applying a touch of powder over it WILL make it last longer. KW does not make any claims about how long this product will last, but she does claim natural, green beauty with an understated touch of color which she absolutely delivers.

IS IT WORTH SHARING OVER COFEE?: Short answer here is: YAS!!!! Again, just like the foundation, when my friends ask me what new product they should get- I tell them KW. Not everyone needs five different foundations, so I simply tell them, “Get. all. the. KW. blush.” However, not everyone likes cream blush. I understand people like to apply blush one time in the morning and have it last until they are done with the day. People retouch foundation/use powder, but rarely do I ever hear the same sentiment with blush. They key point here in using this product is that what you put on your face gets absorbed into your body. I feel comfortable knowing all the ingredients in this product are harmless, so absorb away body! I also feel confident that every time my children slobber all over my face with their kisses, I am not harming them with my vanity.

But, goodness, I adore blush so I think most blushes are seriously amazing. Even though this one is much lighter than what I would normally be drawn to, it’s so classic and gorgeous that it’s making me rethink life! I’m like Mimi from the Drew Carey show who likes bright, bright colors! So maybe a quick tip- if you just won the lottery- then don’t even think twice- make a mass order of everything Kjaer Weis, right now. If you haven’t won the lottery, then get one blush with the compact because everyone needs at least ONE Kjaer Compact to show their friends how fancy we are! Otherwise, buy a Z-palette and fill it up with all the refills- much more affordable and looks just as pleasing to the eyes!
