Kjaer Weis Cream Foundation Review

January 3, 2016

Kjaer Weis was the catalyst for my newfound appreciation and procurement of organic beauty products. I am was an avid user of all the things that is Tarte Cosmetics, but have not quite stepped outside this comfort zone (read: things available at Sephora).

I honestly don’t quite know how I even came upon Kjaer Weis (two little babies and my memory becomes a bit sparse), but all I know is I could not stop googling for her products! I even planned my entire Southern California visit around finding her products! I became obsessed; I spent HOURS of my day searching for everything Kjaer Weis.

Do you ever find an intriguing product that you just have to read every single blog post, watch every single YouTube review/swatch, look for any the stores in your area that might carry it, then look for an online store with the fastest shipping? Please tell me I’m not the only one!

So, who and what is Kjaer Weis all about?

Kirstin Kjaer Weis was born in Denmark and is a makeup artist based in New York City. She is the creative mastermind behind the makeup line that is organic, all natural, gluten free and free of irritants that performs as well as other cutting edge high-end luxury brands on the market. Her packaging is highly luxurious — think of Chanel or Burberry — yet completely environmentally friendly as each product casing is refillable.

What ingredients are in her makeup line?
Please refer to the link here to review all her ingredients.

PRODUCT: Cream Foundation in Like Porcelain. Made in Italy. Net wt. 0.26 oz. / 7.5g. $68 (with compact) / $40 (refill only)

PACKAGING: Stunning, weighted compact that oozes luxury. Sliding the KW emblem away from you to display the product makes using this product feel fun. There’s also a mirror on back side of the KW.

Kjaer Weis Like Porcelain

SHADE: As described on their site: “Perfect for a fair, rosy complexion, Light Porcelain refines even the most sensitive, delicate skin. Created for fair skin with pink undertones.” I’ve never thought of myself as being very pink nor very yellow, generally pretty neutrally fair. But, this foundation shade matches quite well and once blended, looks and feels like my skin but better. Kjaer Weis, if you are lucky enough to live in the greater Los Angeles area, Arizona (Citrine Natural Beauty Bar), or NYC, it is quite difficult to find a match in person. Thus, contacting one of the retailers below would be really beneficial in getting your best shade match.

INITIAL SWATCH: Per their website, Like Porcelain is appropriate for rosy, fair skin tones, but suites my neutral fair skin quite well. The product is quite creamy and dense. But, upon meeting my skin’s warmth, it becomes rather emollient and easy to blend. I think from the swatch alone, it looks my actual skin that got melded into creamy goodness and put into a fancy compact that could very well save the world!

APPLICATION: Here comes the tricky part. You MUST prep your skin — moisturizer is your friend. Your skin must have a bit of a slip to it, so that the product glides on. It is creamy, dense, and concentrated at first strike. Only when you start working it into the skin does it become emollient and “buttery.” A few users like to use the KW foundation brush, others their fingers. Personally, I find once applying all my skin care products, the last being sunscreen, I use an EcoTools foundation brush and swipe it on all over my face while my skin is quite moisturized still. I then use a damp sponge to blend it in with the completed canvas appearing flawless.

EFFICACY: I cannot see where this product can actually go wrong. It creates a weightless feel, but the most natural finish — not cakey, not heavy, not matte, not extra dewy — just healthy, beautiful looking skin. The bonus are the great organic, all natural ingredients that help your skin over time. It is the perfect product that is organic, natural, but also provides buildability from medium to full coverage. There are not very many products that actually provide full coverage that rivals that of other non-green brands that many of us are very fond of.

IS IT WORTH SHARING OVER COFEE?: I’ve been trying to get my friends to get this product. For the most part, they have such beautiful skin that it makes me cringe when they are slathering on any old foundation that they picked up because they saw it at Target in a cute package. GAH! I have sent a dear friend who is a beauty enthusiast on my level (read: almost crazy) probably 5,000 texts about this product. Generally the “LOOK AT MY FACE! #nofilter!” and she usually replies with “I hate you, seriously, is that your skin?” I have to be honest and say “Ugh, not today GF, it’s KW’s face!” It looks so smooth, clean, natural, and radiant that even my good eagle-eye friend thinks it’s MY skin. So, sharing this product over coffee? How about more like BUY this product AND Kristin ALL the coffee as a thank you for such gloriousness?

I just wanted to say that I have been eyeing this makeup line for a long, long time! I have been eager to try it. My hesitation was due to wanting to try out the colors in person, but it just didn’t happen in my travels. Finally, I found a detailed diagram describing which foundation shade would best suit me. So, I made the plunge! Can’t wait to get it in the mail. 😉

Anyhow, the reason that I am writing is to share another product that I love!!! I thought you might appreciate it, too. It is by Roots Rose Radish. I use their Blue Chamomile face lotion and my husband uses the Carrot Rose (lighter weight & doesn’t have the shea…. But one random day he used mine and said that it didn’t smell like the usual strong shea scent and that it didn’t matter which one I got him).

Give it a try. I would love to hear your take on their products. Enjoy your coffee!

(**No one at RRR knows me nor do I receive any compensation. lol 😉
